2026 Summer Camp Registration Opening Soon!
Wonder Roots is proud to bring TimberNook, a globally recognized nature-based curriculum, to families in Vermont. As the only authorized TimberNook provider in the Greater Burlington region—and one of only two in the state—we offer immersive, child-led experiences designed to inspire creativity, build confidence, and nurture essential life skills.
TimberNook's innovative curriculum combined with Wonder Roots' supportive environment, experienced staff and local expertise are the reason so many families return year after year for a summer experience like no other.
TimberNook programs empower children to take healthy risks, work collaboratively, and think critically while using the outdoors as the third teacher. Our programs center around allowing children time and space in the natural world, where the role of the adult is to step-back and tune-in. As a result, we see transformative benefits such as children feeling empowered, capable & proud of their ability to: build & create, problem solve & communicate with others, and manage their day.
Due to the high demand of our summer camps, we have implemented an enrollment process that we hope will continue to nurture the relationships we have with current & past families while also welcoming new families. We will have enrollment "waves" scheduled for each of the following groups:
WAVE 1: Sunday January 25: 9:00 AM-- Current Families
WAVE 2: Saturday January 31: 9:00 AM-- Past Families (enrolled in programs during the last 1-2 years)
WAVE 3: February 7: 9:00 AM-- Email List Subscribers
General Enrollment: February 8: 9:00 AM-- Open to the public (no passcode needed)
Each enrollment wave will have a limited number of slots to access via passcode. If space fills up in your assigned wave, you will also gain access to subsequent waves and can attempt enrollment during that time. Enrollment space is not guaranteed.
If enrollment fills during wave 3, we will begin a waitlist.
Current & Past Families: If you attended a Wonder Roots Program (TimberNook summer camp, Forest Playgroup, Curiosity Connections or Afterschool Adventurers) in the last 1-2 years, we should have record of you in our system. Look out for an email from us. We will send you details (along with a few reminders!).
Email List Subscribers: Be on the lookout for an email from us with details. We’ll send out several emails so you don’t miss anything!
Not an email subscriber? Get on our list! Or, if you like living on the edge, you can take your chances and wait until General Enrollment opens on Feb. 8th.
All camps run 9-3pm and cost $375/child.

Forest Festival of Seasons
The forest is coming alive! Utilizing the natural magic of our ferns and wildflower meadows, campers will hunt for hidden dragon eggs and construct tiny homes for fairies and gnomes in the deep root wells of the trees. We will brew “wild potions” using ingredients foraged from the land, design natural wands, and map out the habitats of mythical beasts. The week culminates in a legendary “Dragons Love Tacos” party deep in the woods.
Read it. Dream it. Build it. This week brings our favorite engineering stories to life! Inspired by books like The Little Red Fort, Rosie Revere, Engineer, and The Most Magnificent Thing, campers will take on daily design challenges. From constructing massive cardboard fortresses to inventing “machines” in the woods, this program blends the wonderful world of storybooks with hands-on construction for the ultimate maker experience.
A week dedicated to nurturing and care! Every camper will “adopt” their very own plush pet to care for throughout the week. We will focus on empathy and community design as we build a complete “Pet Village” for our new friends—constructing timber forts, engineering rafts for “Pet Boat” races on the stream, and hosting a mud-kitchen “Pet Café.” The week concludes with a bubbling, soapy “Pet Parlor” grooming station and a festive Pet Party.
Let’s-a-go!” Castles, Karts, and Boss Battles await! In this star-level adventure, campers will construct wooden fortresses and navigate secret tunnel systems. The week powers up with the engineering of racing “Karts” for a woodland rally and a strategic hunt for hidden treasure. We end with a Peachy celebration and a final water-launcher showdown to see which team can outlast the “Final Boss.” It’s a world of mushrooms, mazes, and high-energy screen-free fun.
Touchdown. We’ve landed on a mysterious, abandoned planet, and it is up to us to establish an outpost. Using materials left behind by previous missions, campers will work together to engineer a complex Space Base to call home. The week is packed with collaborative missions: constructing bridges to span the “River Chasm,” designing man-powered transport rovers to move supplies, and analyzing “alien specimens” in the messy bio-lab. We conclude our mission with air-powered rockets and travel through the “Milky Way” for a splash-landing back home. It’s deep-space survival meets outdoor innovation.
Join us for the ultimate celebration of the senses! We are exploring the universal human joy of festivals—taking the best elements like parades, gift-giving, mystery, and color—and moving them into the wild. From designing elaborate floats for a mud carnival to navigating “haunted” sensory mazes and launching a massive color-powder battle, this week is about big, bold, shared experiences.
