School Partnership

Let us take on the work of planning while you gain valuable inspiration for student-centered learning! We partner with schools or individual classrooms in order to bring our creative outdoor programs to local students.

Our programs include:

Research supported program philosophy and approach that puts children and play at the center of experiential learning.
Curriculum that incorporates literacy, science, social / emotional, and physical development learning objectives.
An environment with ample time & space for students to explore, develop ideas, problem solve and communicate.

Program Options

Field Trips

Sprout seeds of curiosity.

Introduce students and staff to Wonder Roots programs and experience the benefits of our imaginative, hands-on, nature immersive PLANT Ed. curriculum.

Location:

Wonder Roots South Burlington or Hinesburg locations.

Commitment level:

At least TWO sessions (full or half day)

Availability:

Consecutive days, weekly or seasonally

Field Trips Include:

Welcome and information letter for students and adult chaperones/teachers.
Follow-up email summaries of each session for teachers/staff to share with student families.
At least TWO Wonder Roots teachers on site each session.

(We require 1 adult per 6 students attending. Wonder Roots staff is not included in student/adult ratios.)

Choice of our PLANT Ed. curriculum topics designed for your students' age/developmental needs. Each session includes:
- - Welcome Circle/Song/Movement
  - Story Walk/Story Circle/Group Game
  - 2-3 open-ended experiences/Small group skill building
  - Gross motor opportunity

"Artist" in Residence

Establish roots of wonder.

Dig deeper into authentic, whole-body learning by bringing Wonder Roots programs to your school or organization. A "field trip at home", Wonder Roots staff will work with you to identify an outdoor space at/near your site where we will implement our PLANT Ed curriculum with your students.

At least FIVE sessions (full/half day)

Availability:

Consecutive days or weekly

Residencies include:

All elements included in Field Trips
Site consultation by Wonder Roots lead teacher(s).
1 hour, required, orientation training for teachers/staff whose students are participating in the program. The orientation workshop qualifies for educator professional development hours, with certificates available to attendees upon request.
Optional extension activities for teachers/staff to use with their students.

Year-Long Partnership

Create an ecosystem of innovation.

Make a lasting impact on your students and school environment with a sustained relationship with Wonder Roots. We provide multi-tiered support to your school community through a combination of Wonder Roots programs AND on-going educator support.

Our Curriculum

Our P.L.A.N.T. Ed. curriculum uses a multi-disciplinary, whole-body approach to learning. Using a unique blend of Play, Literacy, Arts, Nature and Technology, our curriculum empowers children with a careful & intentional balance of adult facilitated support & student-directed experiences.

Our goal: to engage learners, promote healthy child development, and foster life-long wonder & curiosity.

In a world that is increasingly more technological, busy, and adult-centered, Wonder Roots field trips & residencies combine Vermont's natural elements with opportunities for children to learn and grow in an environment that holds space for THEM-- their ideas, interests and interactions. Wonder Roots programs engage the senses, encourage imagination & nature appreciation and widen children’s understanding of their world, community & self.

Students build skills & retain knowledge when they are interested and invested in their learning environments. P.L.A.N.T. Ed. is designed to maximize student engagement while meeting the varied needs of students.

Our open-ended, creative experiences allow students opportunities to building confidence while also challenging themselves in new ways. Residencies & Field Trips allow students the time and space during the school day to create their own worlds, use materials in unexpected ways, problem solve design challenges, communicate & build community in authentic ways.

In our ever-changing world, our future will depend upon a community of creative thinkers and solution-seekers. Wonder Roots P.L.A.N.T. Ed. curriculum uses PLAY as a multi-disciplinary tool for students to develop creativity, imagination, resourcefulness, autonomy, resilience, interdependence and so much more.
