End of Year Teacher Assessments

The Vermont Agency of Education (AOE) requires families to maintain a record of yearly progress commensurate with age and ability for students enrolled in home study. This can be in the form of a portfolio (compilation of documentation of learning), AOE approved standardized test, an assessment by a VT licensed teacher, or some combination thereof.

End of year assessments (EOYA) by Colleen include a 60 minute virtual meeting with the student and parent to go over examples of the students work from the current school year. Documentations of learning include work samples, writing samples, book lists, photos or videos of projects of activities, sports schedules, ticket stubs, oral presentations, drawings. Colleen conducts her assessments in a casual, interview-style that is meant to be low-stress. She works with all types of student learners and homeschool styles, including unschoolers. Past families have appreciated her relaxed and friendly demeanor and value her ability to put into words the diverse learning opportunities many home study students undertake.

As an additional option, Colleen has created a google classroom where families can submit examples of their children's work over the year. This allows us to work smarter-- enabling Colleen to begin drafting some of the EOYA letter before we meet.

Want more info on the EOYA process? Watch this video.
Video Note/Correction: Families are no longer required to submit EOYA to the AOE. Families are required to keep EOYA on file. The AOE no longer reviews EOYA and is not required to review any EOYA submitted.

2023-24 SY Cost:
$125: 1 child
+ $60 each additional child
