2021 Winter-Spring Youth Programs

After an amazing summer and fall program season, we have even higher hopes for 2021. The end of 2020 brought a greater appreciation for nature and the healing benefits of play. We look forward to further serving our community in the new year. As a reminder, we follow Covid guidelines for out of school programs as set for by VT Health Department. You can find our policies and practices HERE.

Note: In order to create a balanced community for our semester-long Wonder Roots and TimberNook school-age programs, we have decided NOT to accept enrollment on a first come- first serve basis. If your child attended our Fall 2020 program, contact Colleen for the payment/registration link. New participants, please apply HERE.

Join us in the woods for some winter fun! These single session programs are a great way to sample our TimberNook programs, meet others and get outside. For new or past students.
Keep warm with the opportunity to work together to create our own woodland Olympics using nature elements and other loose parts... and then play using some friendly competition.
Let our senses come alive! We'll use nature as tool to engage our taste-buds, ears, eyes and more with some tea and treats over the fire and the opportunity to create music and art using nature elements, loose parts (and hopefully snow!)
COST: $38 per session.

Wonder Roots Programs and Services

Bring your school or homeschool work for a focused study session facilitated by a licensed middle school educator. The first 90 minutes of the program will be indoors with connection to Wi-Fi available. Afterward we will head outside for fireside lunch and outdoor adventures. Outdoor experiences will be determined by group interest and may include nature exploration, whittling, simple woodworking/art projects, group games or other creative endeavors.  Due to indoor space limitations set forth by COVID distance guidelines, group size will be limited to 6 participants.
COST: $230

Join us for outdoor, project-based learning opportunities.
Using a multi-disciplinary approach, we will integrate art, humanities and science into this nature-based, hands-on enrichment program. Children will work together and independently to dive into each monthly topic. Each month will include individual and group projects, games, and nature knowledge and exploration based on the topic.
February 4, 18: Forts & Fire--
Winter in the woods can be a cozy place with the right equipment. Participants will create their own survival shelters, and learn how to use fire as a tool for warmth, cooking and crafts.
March  4, 18: Mighty Maple--
As the seasons shift from winter to spring, the mighty maple awakens. Participants will identify and tap maple trees to harvest and process that sweet maple sap over the camp fire. We'll discuss the science behind the maple sugaring process and explore the possibilities that this deciduous tree has to offer.
April 1, 15: Signs of Spring--
Spring brings new life to the woods as creatures creep out from their winter slumber and new growth sprouts from the earth. Participants will explore the forest, looking for signs of spring. We'll discuss this seasonal change and explore the plant life cycle by creating individual garden boxes and planting early spring veggies.
May 6, 20: Paper Possibilities--
Get ready, get set, get creative! This month is all about the possibilities of paper. Participants will explore the paper-making process and make their own recycled product. We'll incorporate nature elements along with paper and cardboard to create one of a kind creations.
COST: $75 per month or $280 for all 4 Sessions.
